Comment from Shinya Shimizu, CEO & CTO of Elephantech
I am delighted to receive this award. To reach net zero emissions by 2050, the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that almost half of the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2050 will come from technologies that aren't yet commercially available. This means that raising eco-awareness alone is not enough, and that technological innovation is essential to our survival. Although there are many basic technologies currently lying dormant in Japan that could help the cause, we are still lacking an eco-system for putting them into practical use. In such circumstances, our company aims to be a role model for startups creating technological innovations to sustain our planet, and we believe that this aligns perfectly with the significance of the Environmental Startup Awards. Using this award as a lever, we hope to contribute even more to building a sustainable world with technology.

This is based on results obtained from a project subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
